The Blanche Wonnacott Collection

The archive has four boxes of notes by Blanche Wonnacott (E. B. Wonnacott, nee Counter), many related to issues on which she campaigned.  She was an indefatigable fighter for public rights, and she had a fund of knowledge about the local area and its history.  These features emerge in one slice of the archive that we have transcribed, namely her objections to the Devon County Council survey of public rights of way in 1958.  Her notes are partly handwritten and often more than one document covers the same ground.  Interested researchers can see the originals in the archive, but here we felt it was best to give a 'virtual archive' which transcribes some of her documents, with some commentary attached.
